Artist Statement

I paint moments of beauty and grace in the everyday, trying to slow down enough to notice. I am often drawn to old, worn things. I see the beauty in the brokenness, and it sparks thoughts of renewal. These are moments that preserve sanity in a beautiful yet broken world. Each piece follows the same process: I notice, I meditate, and I create or cultivate something of that beauty. I am guided by the words of Isaiah 61 and long to participate in the restoration of which it speaks, "beauty for ashes." My desire is that the work helps others to slow down long enough to notice, celebrate and ask, "where does my hope come from?"
